In the hustle of the Detroit Central Market in the 1880s, a community can be found full of unlikely entrepreneurs. During this program, take a trip back in time to just moments before the market's opening day. Peek behind the curtain as you meet the formerly enslaved farmer and "The First Black Frontiersman" James Kanada, Jewish fishmonger and activist Itzak Danto and the "Queen of the Market" Mary Judge.

As you explore the market in Greenfield Village, learn how it emerged as one of the city's most successful hubs for multicultural communities in Detroit.
